LM5122EVM-1PH: How to tune gate resistors of external FETs

Part Number: LM5122EVM-1PH
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LM5122,

Tool/software:

Hello,

My customer plans to use LM5122 and is evaluating LM5122EVM-1PH.
They would like to tune the external FET gate resistors R11 and R12 somehow.
How are the R11 and R12 should be tuned, any recommendations? Are there any restricted resistor range (min/max) for R11 and R12?

Best regards,

K.Hirano

  • Hello Hirano-san,

Thanks for using the e2e forum.
Gate resistors R11 and R12 can be increased to slow down the switching flanks, which may increase losses but can stabilize voltage overshoots or EMI noise.

Common resistor values are in the range of 1 Ohm to 10 Ohm.
If you increase the resistance even more, the switching losses may increase too much, so higher values are rather uncommon.

    Best regards,
    Niklas
