What are the calibration algorithms and order for the BQ2060A?

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ2060

I need to support production and automation of the calibration routines, and I plan on using set temp, voltage and current values.  I know when Voltage/temperature is calibrated, it adjusts ADC offset, Cellx cal, and ADC Vgain (in addition to temp, which I know how to handle).

I also know that the current changes the ADC/VFC sense resistors.

What are the equations/algorithms for these calibrations?

I also have a question about the calibration order.  It seems to me that the VFC offset should be done before the Voltage/Temp/Current VFC gain.

What is the correct order?

Thanks for your help.

  • Anybody at TI know this answer?

  • The calibration order is as you listed in your other post and I verified:

    1) Voltage/Temp

    2) Current

    3) VFC Offset

The algorithms aren't published, as far as I know. Perhaps one of the app notes at the following link will help you:

  • It is true that is what you said, but I'm not sure you are an expert on this chip. I found the problem with the part and it had nothing  to do with your reply.

I've been frustrated all along with the lack of documentation on this part, and now the lack of technical support.

Somebody at some time at TI knew how to calibrate the BQ2060, but it is clear you do not know this answer. The application notes I downloaded long ago but they are not any help.

I had hoped someone who actually knew the answer to the calibration question would reply.

It seems I must reverse engineer the calibration routines. It's unfortunate that TI is either unwilling or unable to help in this matter. I will certainly take this into consideration on our next design.
