Hi
I need to know if TLV742P build in foldback short circuit protection, since I could see in the datasheet. If it has the protection, could you let me know short circuit current while the output is shortened to GND.
best regards,

Hi,
TLV742P has a brickwall current scheme for overcurrent protection (this includes the short circuit condition). During current limit, the output sources a fixed amount of current that is largely independent of the output voltage. In such a case, the output voltage is not regulated, and is VOUT = ICL × RL . The PMOS pass transistor dissipates (VIN – VOUT) × I_LIMIT until thermal shutdown is triggered and the device turns off. When the device cools, the internal thermal shutdown circuit turns the device back on. If the fault condition continues, the device cycles between current limit and thermal shutdown.
The value of I_CL is shown in figures 20 and 21 in the datasheet and in the EC table as well.
Best regards

Thank you very much for your detail explanation.
I understood that TLV742P does not take foldback current limit scheme but brickwall type of current limit scheme, that is Vout independet current limit I_CL So it keep I_CL value in case Vout shortened to GND.
