Hi,
Sure. A CB certificate can be acquired for something called Electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) or for electrical safety / safety.
EMC is about safe usage of a product in its environment (whether that is a chip, electrical equipment or machines), i.e. a product must not cause equipment in its vicinity any problems, nor is it allowed to perform worse than a defined level due to its surroundings. (Keeping it high level here).
Safety is generally about how safe a product is to the user, including e.g. flammability.
A CB certificate is supported by a report, and the report is produced from testing / evaluating a product against a standard (or standards). The IEC 62368-1 is a safety standard of many, and this is the CB report in that I am interested in, in this case.
A CB report contains much information which is otherwise not conveyed in a certificate or datasheet. In this case, your datasheet is missing some information that my test lab needs to verify in the CB report for your product, the TPS65987D.
(The first item is not relevant for this communication. The UL 2367 seems to be about "solid state overcurrent protectors", also not relevant to this communication)
I hope that was clear.
Coming back to my question, is there a compliance engineer (responsible for the specified chip) at TI available that I could communicate with, that I can connect with my test lab for the necessary exchange?
Regards
Gert
Hello Gert,
Thank you for the explanation. Currently we do not have a process for sharing the report in a public forum, and this would need to be shared through a local TI representative, either field applications engineer or technical sales representative.
In this space we can discuss what is missing from the datasheet and attempt to resolve those gaps.
We send out the testing to a third party, and I am working to understand who would be the compliance engineer or equivalent person who works with the third party.
Regards,
Chris
Hi,
Of course you should not share a report in a public forum (I thought this was private though), nor should you share it with me. But, if I can put the right person at TI in contact with our test lab, directly. Then the reports can be shared directly with them.
>In this space we can discuss what is missing from the datasheet and attempt to resolve those gaps.
I don't have that information. Al lI know is that our test lab needs to see a report to sort whatever open questions they have out. The test engineer could fill out the blanks for whoever ends up being his contact with TI.

Thanks you.
I would appreciate a direct email address to this person, when you find him / her.
Do you think this activity will take a lot of time?
/Gert
Hello,
My apologies about the confusion. This is a public forum which anyone can read from, but you are required to login in order to post.
Here is another similar discussion but it is unclear if the issue was resolved by going to the IEC body.
Do you think this activity will take a lot of time?
This is outside of our normal operating procedures, so it will take a lot of time.

Chris
Hello,
Closing this item. The product performance will vary within the min and max ranges found in the product specification (datasheet). These ranges are specified over the recommended operating conditions also found in the datasheet.

Chris
Hi,
We have had easter holidays until today, and often people can be away for some additional time off.
It might be that Nicolai did not respond due to that, or you guys have sorted everything out in the background?
In any case, I will check in with Nicolai to see if he is satisfied.
Maybe keep the item open until we know?
Appreciate your help.
Best regards
Gert
