Tool/software:
Hi,
We would like to confirm a potential inconsistency in the datasheet for LP2951 (including the latest revision Rev.K).
■Subject of Concern
Section 5.1 "Absolute Maximum Ratings"
-
VSENSE Absolute Maximum Rating: 5V (MAX)
■Our Concern
For the fixed 5V output version of LP2951, it is common to connect the SENSE pin directly to the OUTPUT pin.
However, based on the following observations, we believe that the output voltage can exceed 5V, potentially causing the voltage at the SENSE pin to exceed the stated 5V maximum rating:
-
In section 5.5 "Electrical Characteristics", the maximum output voltage is listed as 5.1V (Legacy) and 5.04V (New chip)
-
Transient response graphs (Figure 5-46 and Figure 5-48) show the output voltage temporarily exceeding 5V
Therefore, we are concerned that the current 5V MAX rating for VSENSE may not be aligned with actual device behavior in typical use conditions.
Could you kindly confirm whether the current specification for the absolute maximum rating of the VSENSE pin is correct?
Best regards,
Conor
