TPS1H100-Q1: What will take place when triggering the internal current limitation

Part Number: TPS1H100-Q1

Tool/software:

Hi Expert,

My customer is evaluating TPS1H100-Q1, and we notice that there are two current limitation. My customer will use the internal current limitation, which means that we will shorten the CL PIN to GND.

They wonder what will take place when triggering the internal current limitation(typically 10A)? Will the device limit current to 10A until thermal shut down or disable the MOSFET directly?

Best Regards,

Jack

  • Hi Jack,

The same closed loop described in the external current limit section is used for the internal limit. The device will regulates the FET voltage and clamp the current at 10A. the device will not directly shut off the channel until the thermal limit is reached or unless a hard short to GND condition occurs.

    Thank you,

    Sarah
