LP5036: LP5036 VLED and LEDs connected in series

Part Number: LP5036

Tool/software:

Hi,

Can I connect 3 LEDs in series by LP5036? In case yes, what is the maximum of VLED?

Output pin is current sink, so a dropping resistor in series is not neccessary?

My use case is:

 -  total 36 RGB, always 3 RGBs are connected in series

 -  the RGB has Vf = 5V, can I use 24V (VLED) supply voltage?

Best regards

Ngoc

  • Hi Ngoc,

No, the VLED voltage should not exceed 5.5V.

Yes, the output is under constant current control, so no series resister is required.

As for the connection, do you mean that 3 Red LEDs are connected in series on one channel, then 3 Green LEDs are connected in series on one channel, then 3 Blue LEDs are connected in series on one channel, then continue 3 Red LEDs...?

And Vf = 5V is the forward voltage of 1 single LED or the sum of 3 LED in series?

    Best regards,

    Felix
