TPS65988DJEVM: Problem When Flashing the TPS65988DJEVM

Part Number: TPS65988DJEVM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS65988, TPS65987DDJ,

Tool/software:

Hello,

I'm having trouble flashing my EVM using the Customization Tool (version 6.1.4). Following the user guide, I created a new project (TPS65988 DK), and then proceeded to save the binary. However, I received the following error message:

I'm not sure, but I think the problem might be related to the firmware base image, since the version field shows FFFF.FFFF.

Note: I'm able to flash other binaries from previous versions ( 6.1.2 for eg )  without any issues, so I believe the flashing process itself is working correctly.

  • HI Adam,

I think you may be correct there.

The 6.1.4 GUI does not support the TPS65987DDJ.

Are you working on a reference design that specifically uses the TPS65987DDJ? We do not recommend using this part for any applications other than reference designs that specify it. Do you have a GUI that supports the TPS65987DDJ? If so, which version do you have.

    Thanks and Regards,

    Chris

  • Thank for your time Christopher !

Actually , it is the TPS65988DJEVM  that I am working with , previously my team worked with the 6.1.2 GUI version to flash the same board but i cannot happen to find it anywhere on TI website.

  • Hi,

Chris is currently out of office. Please allow some delay in responses.

  • Hi Adam,

Are you working on a reference design that specifically uses the TPS65987DDJ? We do not recommend using this part for any applications other than reference designs that specify it. This part is primarily meant for TBT applications.

If you answered yes to the above questions, (primarily the one regarding a reference design), you can request access to additional resources through the "request now" button on the product page. We only grant access if you are using a TBT reference design, so please have the name of the design ready. The resources should include the GUI.

If you are not using a reference design, you may need to evaluate a different PD controller.

    Thanks and Regards,

    Chris
