BQ25611DEVM: BQ25611D-EVM - Detect OTG Connections

Part Number: BQ25611DEVM

Tool/software:

Hello,

We are using the BQ25611D-EVM module. Can this EVM reliably detect OTG/Charger connections without fail? When connecting or disconnecting the charger, it detects correctly. However, it does not switch between OTG and charger modes as expected. Does the switching happen automatically, or is additional configuration required, such as writing a register value? We even tried writing register 0x01 with 0x3A to enable OTG, but after doing so, the charger was no longer detected, even after removing the OTG and reconnecting the charger. Are we missing something?

  • Hello,

    BST_CONFIG should be 1 and CHG_CONFIG should be 0.

  • Hi,

we've tried this configuration too, but I'm still getting the same result. When we connect the charger normally, it works as expected—even after multiple attempts. However, if OTG is enabled as you mentioned, and then the charger is connected after OTG is enabled (as we disconnect OTG), the charger is not detected and the device remains in OTG mode. If we connect the charger after setting CHG_CONFIG=0, the status shows as "Not Charging." Could you please share a way to resolve this?

  • Hello,

Have you followed the steps in the EVM User Guide? Do you have no voltage applied to VBUS when attempting to start OTG? Keep in mind all EVMs go through testing before kitting and should have passed this step.
