Hi team,

1. Why is BQ79616-Q1 impossible to support 5s battery? My customer assumes that it is okay to use BQ79616-Q1 for 4s series battery if the total module voltage is above 11V.

2. Could you please recommend battery monitor ICs which is pin compatible with BQ79616-Q1 and support 4s series battery to 12s series battery?

If the total battery voltage of 6s battery is under 11V, Is it possible to use this device?

If you are not doing OTP programming, you can go down to 9V.

End equipment is the automotive EV battery.

If the total module voltage is 9V below, how does this device work?

Shunsuke,

If the total voltage is < 9, then the device will not operate as designed.

I have looped in our marketing engineer via email to see if there is a device that will support your constraints.

Hi Quentin-san,

Sorry for asking a question after pushing solved button. My question was wrong. If the battery voltage gets low due to the overdischarge and the battery voltage gets under 9V, how does IC work?

The IC will not operate under 9V and will go into shutdown mode.
