BQ40Z50EVM-561: BQ40Z50EVM-561

Part Number: BQ40Z50EVM-561
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQSTUDIO

Tool/software:

Hello,

We are using the BQ40z50EVM to measure cell voltage, current, and temperature in a 1P3S battery pack. We are executing a CCCV charge followed by a rest, a CC discharge, and then a rest. The current sense is showing spikes exceeding 100 mA above the nominal value. We can confirm via a separate measurement system that this is not actually happening, i.e. the pack current does not have these spikes.

This behavior shows up at random - sometimes showing up immediately, at other times after a delay, or not at all. Further, it shows up only on some of the EVMs we are using.

The VCell and temperature measurements appear to be clean and as expected.

Following suggestions found elsewhere on these forums, we set the current deadband to 8 mA (it was set to 0 mA by default) but this has not helped.

Any help with diagnosing the problem would be much appreciated. An image showing the problem is attached.

Thanks,

Sandeep
