TPS3808: TPS3808G01 external pull up resistor on RESETn pin to 1.2V

Part Number: TPS3808

Tool/software:

Hi,

I have DSP with 1.2V I/O, mean the dsp reset pin is 1.2V I/O , and i want the TPS3808G01 to monitor the VDDIO which is 1.2V.

In that case I will connect the TPS3808G01 to VDD to 3.3V and sense pin to VDDIO=1.2V.

The TPS3808G01 RESETn pin connect to the DSP RSTb pin.

I cannot connect it to VDD because in that case I will harm the DSP RSTb pin which is 1.2V I/O , and on the other hand in the data sheet it is written:

" A pull-up resistor from 10 kΩ to 1 MΩ should be used on this pin, and allows the reset pin to attain voltages higher than VDD "

My question is can I connect the pull up resistor pin of RESETn output ( TPS3808G01 pin number 1 in SOT-23 )  to DSP VDDIO which is 1.2V ?

Thanks,
Avi.

  • Hi Avi,

You can connect RESET pin 1.2V.

Please look at the recommended operating condition table for RESET pin.According the datasheet, you can connect RESET pin 0 to 6.5V.

To be able to RESET pin to react as expected, please check 8.4 Device Functional Modes.

Even if you are connecting the Reset pin 1.2V, since device will be powered from 3.3V, VDD needs to be in the above than 1.7V (Vdd_min) to be able to RESET pin to behave as expected.

    Best Regards,

    Sila
