TPS25762DQ1EVM: How to use PDP

Hello experts,

I am setting up TPS25762DQ1EVM by using GUI and I have one question about PDP (PD power).

When I set 5V and 9V with 27W max port power in GUI, three PDP automatically appeared. What does the PDP exactly do? Does it affect PD negotiation? I would like to understand how PDP #1~3 functions in PD negotiation.

Hi Kento,

PDP(Power Delivery Power) is defined to enable good interoperability between Sources and Sinks. It's needed for PD negotiation. You can just leave them unchanged as they are automatically generated by GUI. For more details, you can check the specs on USB IF.

Thank you for the information. I have looked into the specs of USB IF. I want to confirm my understanding. What I set in PDO is 5V and 9V. However, PDP shows 5V, 5.9V, and 9V. Does it mean PD source can output 5.9V after PD negotiation? Or is it just for interoperability and source output is only 5V and 9V?

Hi Kento,

You are right, you will not see 5.9 V in fixed PDO. Source output is only 5V and 9V.
