LP87745: SPI

Part Number: LP87745
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: AM2732, TMDS273EVM

Tool/software:

We are currently considering using your AM2732 device for our application and would like to ask for your guidance regarding the surrounding power circuitry.

According to the application note AM273x Hardware Design Guide (sprad61a.pdf), the power supply is configured using a combination of LM63625 and LP877451, as described in section 2 "POWER".
We believe this configuration matches that of the TMDS273EVM evaluation board.

In this regard, we have a question about the LP877451.
While we understand that this device can be configured via SPI, does it function correctly in its default state without requiring any specific configuration?
We plan to design our circuit to match the configuration of the evaluation board.

  • Hi Noaki,

While we understand that this device can be configured via SPI, does it function correctly in its default state without requiring any specific configuration?

You may need some configuration during initialization. For example, you may need to configure WD parameters if you want to use it. You may  need to clear some interrupts and you may need to configure MCU_ESM if it used. You may want to enable the SPI CRC after the device is powered up. This all depends on what features are you using.

If WD and ESM or SPI CRC enabling is not needed. Then by default ESM and CRC disable during the device power up.

But WD is enabled and that needs to be disabled.

  • Hello Ishtiaque  ,
    Thank you for your response.
I understand that configuration via SPI is required.

On a different topic, are there any recommended alternatives to the LP877451 for powering the AM2732?

  • Hi Naoki,

On a different topic, are there any recommended alternatives to the LP877451 for powering the AM2732?

What are the requirements that LP877451 is not capable of meeting? Why are you looking for alternative?

    Regards,

    Ishtiaque
