TPS4800-Q1: spec check

Part Number: TPS4800-Q1

Tool/software:

Hi

1. TPS4800 Does this reverse insertion protection function require external circuits to achieve?

2. TPS4800 Since pins 4 and 5 are not used, should they be NC or PU +V5S? Is PU Power domain +V5S correct?

  • Hello Gareth,

The TPS4800 device can support reverse polarity protection if you have a back to back FET configuration.

    1. The Vs - GND and SRC - GND min voltages are -65V.
    2. The device will monitor for input reverse polarity and turn off the FET if detected. B2B FETs topology vis needed in this case to block the current with the reverse body diode if the FET turns off.
    3. Output reverse polarity is not directly monitored so a TVS diode from SRC to GND is needed if current will exceed -65V

For FLT pins, if you are not planning to use these then they should be connected to GND.

    Thank you,

    Sarah
