BQ25622E: BQ25622E: Charging two LFP cells in parallel

Part Number: BQ25622E

Tool/software:

Hi,

I am using this IC for charging two LFP cells in parallel, please let me know if this IC support such functionality.

Are there any precautions for cells selection or wiring in such cases? Or change in charger firmware configuration?

Regards,
Anurag

  • Hi Anurag,

Yes the BQ25622E can be used to charge cells in parallel. No major charger configuration change is needed to charge parallel cells with the BQ25622E.

Are there any precautions for cells selection or wiring in such cases?

For your board layout and wiring you want trace parasitics from BQ25622E bat pin output to the battery terminal to be roughly the same for both cells. You will need to check with battery manufacturer in regards to any additional precautions needed for any particular LFP cell.

    Best Regards,

    Garrett

  • Thanks for your response Garett, this is helpful.

As we are using single common connector which connects to both cells, we don't need to bother about Parasitics, right? There is only one trace going to connector.

    Regards,
    Anurag

  • Hi Anurag,

Correct you should not need to worry about trace parasitics in that case.
