TPS482H85-Q1: Can I add pull up resistor in the latch pin of TPS482H85C-Q1?

Part Number: TPS482H85-Q1

Tool/software:

Hi Members,

I'm drawing the schematics of TPS482H85-Q1, Got a confusion over LATCH pin whether pull resistor is required or not? Could anyone suggest me in this?

  • Hi Nihal,

The LATCH pin allows the user to configure the device behavior when a thermal fault occurs. If the LATCH pin is pulled low, it will operate in auto-retry mode. If it is pulled high, the device will latch off.

Please see below for more information.

  • According to thermal behaviour, Pull up is going to use for Latch Pin. Is it possible to operate without Pull up for Latch Pin?

  • Hi Nihal,

You can operate in either mode - it just depends on the customer/requirement. The LATCH pin has an internal pulldown so it will automatically operate in the auto-retry mode but if you want to operate it in latch-off, you will need to pull it high. So yes, you can operate without a pull up which means the device will operate in the auto-retry mode and try to restart after some time when thermal shutdown is reached.
