TPS65994AE: 65994BH Dead-battery issue

Hi Sir

We're using 65994BH as PD controller on our USB4 add in card. And we encounter a issue that our USB4 card will lost function.

Here's the reproduce process:

1.install USB4 card in our system

2.connect a USB4/TBT4 dock which has a independent power supply to USB4 card

3.turn off our system and unplug the AC cable

4.plug in the AC cable and boot up to the OS, find the USB4 card lost it function, can't recognize the connectted TBT4/USB4 dock.

And this issue has been debugged by TI collegue Annchit for weeks, the root cause of this issue may be the PD controller enter the Dead-battery mode. But as I know, dead-battery mode is mostly applied in notebook, but our system is Desktop computer, don't need dead-battery mode, so could you please help check this issue with Annchit? How can we fix this issue? It seems that this issue has been debug for long time and there's no solution and workround for us.

There's no reference E2E. We've communicated with Annchit through E-mail, if you want to know more information you can ask Annchit or maybe I can transfer the mail we've discussed so far. May I have your mail address?

My point is that since our Desktop computer doesn't need to support Dead-battery mode, would you please help solve this?

Hi Shuiquan,

As we have discussed on the mail as well as on calls, please share the findings after updating the EC code to send out GAID command to the PD Controller. I believe that should fix the problem.
