PMICLOADBOARDEVM: TPS6594_Q1 Low temperature failure

Part Number: PMICLOADBOARDEVM

Tool/software:

Dear TI Support,

Follow the datasheet, the device temperature grade :-40°C to +125°C.

If the ambient temperature is lower than -40°C, what abnormal failure will TPS6594_Q1 have? Will it cause the system to shut down all digital outputs, external voltage rails, and monitors and enter a safe recovery state after a self-test exception?

When we start the low temperature pressure measurement, we find there are occasional PMIC failures. the PIN status follow:

EN_DRV              LOW
GPIO9 PGOOD   LOW
GPIO2                 LOW
nRSTOUT           LOW

When the temperature returns to around 20°, the problem will be fixed. Can we determine that the PMIC is abnormal based on these PIN states? What is the minimum operating temperature of this PMIC?

  • Thank you for your inquiry. US and Europe TI offices are closed on April 18th. This thread has been assigned but you will receive a response early next week. Thank you for your patience!

  • Hello Katie,

Good morning, any feedback for me?

  • Hello Katie,

    Still wait for your feedback.

  • Hello Yu,

This line in the datasheet says guarantees device operation from the -40C to 125C.

Depends, what is the part number associated with this line of questioning?

Often many times the TPS6594 is the key component in fault handling so a failure to output from the PMIC may not necessarily be caused by the PMIC but rather a handling of an error associated with the PMIC.

Is it possible after the recovery from 20 C that a register readback can be performed? Registers 0x5A to 0x6C of the base device address, these are the interrupt registers and can give more detail as to why there was fault handling.

    BR,
