BQ40Z50: BQ40Z50-R3 (BQ40Z453-R3)

Part Number: BQ40Z50

Tool/software:

Hello.

I would like to inquire about current sensing of BQ40Z453-R3.

1. How do you read the cell 1, 2, 3 currents?

There is only one current sensing resistor, and I would like to know how to separate Cell 1, 2, 3 and how to calculate it and the calculation time.

2. The number of times I read the current is irregular, can I improve it?

The actual current is 0 mA, but if you monitor it 0 mA reads -3 mA every few seconds.

Please check. Thank you.

  • Hello Jeongwon,

There is only one current sensing resistor, and I would like to know how to separate Cell 1, 2, 3 and how to calculate it and the calculation time.

We do not support calculating with sense resistor on individual cells

    2. The number of times I read the current is irregular, can I improve it?

The actual current is 0 mA, but if you monitor it 0 mA reads -3 mA every few seconds.

The biggest impact for higher accuracies is to follow the calibration application report below.

  • Hello, Alan.

    Thank you for reply.
In addition to E to E, the contents received by e-mail are as follows.

-> 2. The number of times I read the current is irregular, can I improve it?
The actual current is 0 mA, but if you monitor it 0 mA reads -3 mA every few seconds.

I ask for a question again.
Our current state is There are two values to read with PC Tool

    1) Reading 0x0071 DA Status1 Cell Current 1, 2, 3
It's actually a discharge current of -1 to -7 mA
Current 1, 2, 3 being read are read from -1 to 6 mA.

    2) It's actually a discharge current of -1 to -7 mA
Read the 0x0A Current, the Current looks from 0 to -3 mA.
Is it correct to read the average current and come out a little less?

    3) I understand the calibration of (0x0071 DA Status1) Cell currents 1, 2, 3.
So why is calibration showing numbers for what purpose?
What kind of situation should I look at to refer to?
Or I can't look at it?

Please explain this question in detail. There are several people watching, but no one understands it due to lack of explanation.

  • Hello Jeongwon,

Our current state is There are two values to read with PC Tool

-After communicating with the team there was a error on my end, you can read the individual cell current through the manufacture commands listed below.

    1) Reading 0x0071 DA Status1 Cell Current 1, 2, 3
It's actually a discharge current of -1 to -7 mA
Current 1, 2, 3 being read are read from -1 to 6 mA.

-Are you able to test with a different set of cells to verified that it is not a calibrating or gauge issue? Also could you send a .log file to see other parameters during this time

    3) I understand the calibration of (0x0071 DA Status1) Cell currents 1, 2, 3.
So why is calibration showing numbers for what purpose?

-can you attached a screenshot of you are referring too? Or is this the Cell Current 1,2,3 ?

    Thank you,
    Alan

  • Hello, Alan.

    Thank you for reply.

    1) Please check the attached file you checked.
    3) Yes. Cell current 1, 2, 3.

  • Hello Jeongwon,

I need confirmation that the gauge is calibrated according to the datasheet below, this situation could be fixed if that is the case

-Thank you for the files, but we need a exported .log file from bqstuido to help debug to look at all the registers during these events. Also also perform the same test on a EVM to confirm it is not a hardware issue on your PCB.

    Thank you,
    Alan
