TPS65987D: Can use TMUX1064 power from LDO_3V3 on TPS65987D?

Part Number: TPS65987D
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TUSB1064

Tool/software:

Hi,

My customer has already decided to use TPS65987D (for Sink only) and TMUX1064.  They consider "LDO_3V3 from VBUS(20V)" for TUSB1064 input.  Is it possible to supply TUSB1064 power from LDO_3V3?   Please advise us.

Also, could you please let us know any limitation of power-up sequence between TPS65987D and TMUX1064?

Thanks and best regards,
M.HATTORI.

  • Hi M.Hattori,

We do not recommend using the TPS65987DH or TPS654987DDK for any new designs. We do not have a replacement PD active PD controller for supporting DP alt mode at this time.

If they are already using the part, we can support them, but please make it clear that the part is NRND and does not support PD compliance past PD 3.1.1.8.

No, LDO3V3 from the TPS65987D should not be used to power the TUSB1064.

The TMUX should be on if/when a type-c connection requiring data is made. There are no specific timing requirements.

    Thanks and Regards,
