LMS8117A adjustable version (LMS8117ADTX-ADJ) Maximum input voltage is rated 20V according to the datasheet. However, the adjustable version Adjust Pin (pin1) is usually connected to a resistor voltage divider, instead of circuit GROUND. It looks to me that LMS8117A-ADJ may be used as a 24V to 15V regulator as long as the voltage between V_input and Adjust pin is less than 20V.
Could you please confirm that LMS8117A-ADJ may be used for 24V-to-15V conversion?
