TPS62872-Q1: Compensation resistor selection

Part Number: TPS62872-Q1

Tool/software:

Hi Team,

We are designing the TPS62872-Q1, with a question regarding to the compensation resistor.

According to datasheet, the calculated value is 2.244k, and finally selected a 2.4k.

Do we have a standard on how to select this? Can we choose a 2k resistor?

Beside, what is the accuracy request for this resistor? Can we use 5% 2k resistor?

Thanks

Regards,

Frank

  • Hi Frank,

You have to calculate value according to the application and  find the resistor value close to resistor standards like  E24 /E96 standards and select it for your application.

I would suggest to choose resistor with better accuracy like 1% or lower if possible so that your bandwidth will stay stable over corner condition and this will impact on the device stability. As mentioned in datasheet E24 is okay to use as well. Compensation resistor adjust the bandwidth of converter and if you can select value close by like 2KOhm. It is good practice to check the bandwidth and device performance  with new selected value.

Please share the full schematic with operating condition (Load step, output acc) to check device stability.

    Best regards,

    Tanvee
