TPS25730: Twe-Layer Board for TPS25730DREFR

Part Number: TPS25730

Tool/software:

Hi,

Our customer is considering whether they can design a two-layer board, but according to the datasheet, a four-layer board with components on both sides is recommended.
For example, would it be possible to design a two-layer board if all the components were placed on one side with a larger mounting area and the back side was made into a GND plane?

If you have any knowledge about this, please let me know.
(The device is TPS25730"D".)

Best regards,
Hiroshi

  • Hi Hiroshi,

Functionally it may be possible, we mainly recommend 4 layers to have dedicated gnd and power planes, and for easy routing.

Unfortunately, we have not validated a two layer board for the TPS25730, so I can not 100% recommend they do so.

If they can design the board with proper connections, thermal relief, and part placement, they can go ahead and try, but it will have to be at their own risk.

    Thanks and Regards,

    Chris
