Tool/software:
We are currently looking for a suitable fuel gauge IC for our project, which utilizes a 4S lithium-ion battery pack with a nominal voltage of 14.8V and a capacity of 2900 mAh. Please note that the battery pack already includes an internal BMS, so we do not require any built-in protection or balancing features in the fuel gauge itself.
Our key requirements are:
- Monitoring of pack voltage and current
- Accurate reporting of State of Charge (SoC) and remaining capacity
- Output of data in both percentage and mAh
- Communication via I²C interface to the host controller
We have identified BQ34Z100PW-G1 as a potential part for this application. Could you please confirm if this part is suitable for our use case?
Additionally, we have a question regarding the power supply for the fuel gauge, as our battery voltage varies from 11.6V to 16.8V. Could you suggest how to power this device reliably over the full battery voltage range? If there are any reference circuits available other than the evaluation kit (EVK), we would appreciate it if you could share those as well. And we don't require Led indications so can we remove the SW1 section, Along with if we are using the EVK schematics as reference which jumper connections should we follow for our application.
