BQ27Z746: BQ27Z746EVM not responding and unable to be detected by bqStudio

Part Number: BQ27Z746
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQSTUDIO, EV2400,

Tool/software:

Hi,

I am using BQ27Z746EVM, i have 3 boards, and now all the boards are not responding, bqStudio not able to detect them.

I found that if i stop the programming of firmware half way, the board will be not responding anymore.

Is there any way to recover this?

Thank you and regards,

Soo San

  • Hello Soo San,

What was the last thing you were doing within the board? There is no way to recover your packs without either doing a power reset, disconnecting and connecting the cell. My best recommendation is to make sure that your hardware connection are done properly such as your gauge to your cell and your ev2400 to your gauge. I've attached the evm that goes into specifics for setting up your gauge.

  • Hi Alan,

The last thing I did on the board was programming golden image, but i stopped it half way.

I had tried to disconnecting and reconnecting the cell but the board still not responsive (bqStudio unable to detect it).

We have concern when the USB connection is disconnected accidentally during golden image programming, BQ27Z746 will become not responsive and unable to reprogram in production line.

What can be done if the scenario above happen?

    Thank you.

    Regards,

    Soo San

  • Hello Soo San,

We haven't seen a board being programmed and this doesn't happen normally. If you disconnected the USB connection during programming that could explain the device being unresponsive. However if you used the device within the proper voltage, current and temperature parameters and the if the device doesn't see a ESD, impact and etc during programming than it should program normally.

    Thank you,
    Alan

  • Hi Alan,

If the programming stopped half way, and the IC is not responsive, the only way is to replace the IC?

    Regards,

    Soo San

  • Hello Soo,

If after performing a hard reset by unplugging and reconnecting the battery pack, confirming that your enable pin is pulled, and that your communication lines are correctly connected than it may warrant for a IC replacement; this is assuming that it was damaged in some sort of fashion.

    Thank you,
    Alan
