TPS1689: tps16890 on/off control through PMBus

Hello,

my application is planning to use Tps16890 as a switch, when power applied to VIN the switch keep in OFF state, but TPS16890 should be enabled, telemetry will be able to response Host command.

Tps16890 ON/OFF can be controlled by PMBus.

how can I do it?

the evaluation board example shows EN pin to control ON/OFF only. when disabled, telemetry will not response to host.

Hi Tom,

EN can be used to turn on and off fet .

As long as vdd pin has sufficient voltage you will be able to perform telemetry.

does it possible PMBus command to override EN? or someway to control ON/OFF by PMBus only?

my plan it to reduce IO pins, and let PMBus to control everything for multiple TPS16890 individually.

TPS16890 has 25 address, that is perfect choice for my application.
