TPS65987DDK: Registers programming for custom configuration

Dear Support,

We used TPS65987DDK PD controller on our custom board. The configuration is set by ADCIN1 pin and SPI MiSO pin to BP_NoWait and Configuration3. We tried to program some registers but read back returns zero values. The Mode register returns PTCH value. How can we get APP and set registers for our application.

Can you confirm where you are in the flow diagram found in figure 4?

Dead Battery? -> No (3.3V is present at VIN_3V3); BP_NoWait -> Yes (0.42V @ADCIN1, 0 @SPI-MISO); No patch, No sFLASH

Hello,

To be clear. Dead battery means that VBUS was applied before VIN_3V3. VIN_3V3 can be applied and the device is still in dead battery because VBUS was applied first.

OK.Noted. 3.3V was applied to VIN_3V3 before VBUS.

Hello,

Thank you for the confirmation. Would it be possible to read the boot flags (0x2D) in addition to the Mode? It is not clear to me what is happening. Based upon the flow chart the device should be operating with the configuration 3. Can you also test with VBUS applied first?

The value of Boot Flags register is:

Mode register returns PTCH

VBUS was applied first. The result is the same.

My apologies. I misread your earlier post.

The values in the table represent the ratio of R2 to R1+R2 and not the voltage. If the voltage at ADCIN1 is 0.42V then the setting is 0.42/3.3 = 0.127
