UCC28711: 3 phase / single phase input to DC converter design

Part Number: UCC28711
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: PMP10344, UCC256302

Tool/software:

Hi ,

We are looking for the AC to DC rectifier design for the below specification for our new product development,

Input voltage: 3phase voltage 110/220/230/240/380/400/415/460/ 480VAC.  (Or) Single Phase voltage 110, 220, 230 & 240 VAC

& Input voltage: 24VDC ( if possible on the same single board design)

Output voltage : 24VDC @ 6A  (Output1) & 12VDC @ 2A (optional)

I can see couple of example reference design like PMP10344 support such a design specification. Please guide me the proper flyback switching ICs from where to start for the above request.

Regards,

Ravi

  • Hi Ravi,

With 24VDC @ 6A and 12 VDC at 2A this is a total of 168W of power. Normally at this power level we look at other higher efficiency topologies. A good starting point might be to look at PMP22485 which is using our UCC2897A.

Another option could be our UCC28782. This is our most efficient flyback controller. PMP232224 is an example of a 220W battery charging using this IC.

Then there is the LLC topology. This will likely get you the highest efficiency. PMP21582 is an example of this. Please note, this is using our older UCC256302 we now have the UCC256612 which is the highest resonant frequency controller on the market.

I hope this answers your question.
