BQ25172: The application issues of chips

Part Number: BQ25172
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ25505, BQ25750

Tool/software:

Can BQ25505 and BQ25750 support nickel-metal hydride batteries (NiMH)?  If not, what problems will occur when used with NiMH batteries?  For BQ25172 used with NiMH, is it better to have a higher or lower input voltage?  This voltage will affect the design of my solar panel.  I want to know whether 4 series or 2 parallel and 2 series of batteries have higher efficiency.  Also, can different charging efficiency curves be provided (the specification sheet does not have data under various different test conditions)?

  • Hello,

It could if the right size batteries are attached (max charge voltage of 5.5V). Please open a separate thread for BQ25172. This part was released over 12 years ago and has limited support. Please test according to your application.

    Regards,
