BQ34Z100-G1: bqStudio not recognizing fuel gauge

Part Number: BQ34Z100-G1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQSTUDIO, BQ34Z100

Tool/software:

When I bring up bqStudio, it does not recognize the bq34z100-G1 fuel gauge.

It detects that the chip is there and reports the ID as 0000_0_02.

I select gauge in the next screen and 0100_0_16-bq34z100G1.bqz on the next screen.

When the next screen comes up it appears to be able to communicate as all of the data seems correct.

I can send commands and get back what appears to be correct data, although when I send the command "DEVICE_TYPE" it returns "0x0000".

The "FW_VERSION" command returns "0x0002" and the "HW_VERSION" command returns "0x0000".

When I select the Data Memory tab, it does not load any data with the error message "Operation failed because initial read of all data flash failed."

If I use the Advanced Comm tab and read 20 bytes starting at register 0 it returns "00 00 00 64 00 00 D0 03 B1 02 00 00 92 0B 16 11 00 00 00 24"

What could be the problem?

Thanks,

Art
