BQ27546-G1: Support Request for BQ27546-G1 Integration and Measurement Procedure

Hi,

We have started development using the BQ27546-G1 fuel gauge with a rechargeable lithium-polymer battery, and we would like to measure the following parameters from the gauge:

  1. Current consumption of the device (via CC Count / Offset or similar method)

  2. Remaining battery percentage

  3. Battery voltage

Questions:

  1. Could you please provide the recommended procedure or initialization steps to accurately obtain these values from the fuel gauge?

  2. Is it necessary to perform calibration using the EV2300 tool, or can we instead rely on the Host System Calibration Method?
    (We are referring to the method described in [this document/link]).

We would appreciate guidance on best practices for setup and calibration, especially for systems without access to TI's hardware tools.

    You have the ability to use BQStudio or follow Host System Calibration Method.

    -They both should get the same accuracy but in terms of reliability you may see better results with BQstudio due to easier interface you would see leading to a better chance that your updates will go through. However in terms of application it should be the same

    -Process would be much more easier to do with BQstudio since all the configuration and values are aviable within one interface but the capabilities and outcome should be the same.

    In which types of applications is the Host System Calibration Method most commonly used, and in what scenarios is BQStudio typically preferred?

    -Host system calibration is mainly used when the system is already in the field versus BQStudio is preferred during the research and development stage of a project and allows the user to update values and bring up the software aspect from start to finish.
