TPS62162: The schematic review for TPS62162

Hi,

We use the TPS62162DSGR for 12V to 3.3V/1A buck circuit, and now, we have about 6% failure in our mass product,

and we test the Pin to Ground impedance and VIN(pin2) and EN(pin3) of the the failure ones are less impedance compare with the good;

We conisder the internal MOSFET are damaged, but we make sure our Vin voltage is normal;

Can you help to reivew our schmatic and pin to ground impedance, and then advise if there are any error for our design, thanks.

When you say 6% failure, is it while testing or customer returns? What is this buck connected to?

Schematic is straight forward and is fine.

This is the mass product testing result but no the returns, and the buck device is connected to +/-20 range voltmeter, so if we need to submit the FAR to

TI CQE, thanks.

Hi Liang,

Several concerns for the application. Please double check.

1. Because MOSFETs is integrated inside the IC, so the input 10uF must have enough rating and must be placed as close as possible to Vin and PGND pin. Please double check the PCB layout.

2. TPS62162 EN absolute max voltage is Vin+0.3V as below. If EN pin voltage is higher than 0.3V of Vin pin at any conditions, the device might damage. Please double check the PCB layout if there is any delay between EN and PVIN.
