BQ24292I: BATFET_Disable operation

Part Number: BQ24292I

Tool/software:

For our product implementation, we can use it with or without a battery connected. The issue in this thread is specific to the implementation without the battery.

During non-battery operation we set the BATFET_disable (REG07[5]) to '1'. The input current limit (RG00[2:0]) is set as '010' (500mA) but can change depening on the input source detected. Our application does not use supplies with a lower input current capability. We also operate in Host Mode.

We find that during operation, the BATFET_disable changes to '0' and the current limit drops to 100mA. This causes our system to reset due to the current requirement of the system being greater than the 100mA limit. The only way to recover, is to remove the input power, which resets BQ24292 device and allows more current during boot-up, when we are able to load our custom charger settings again.

The question is: Is there any other mechanism that can change the BATFET_Disable state, other than an I2C_Wrtie from the Host, or a reset to default for the device?

Thanks, Amos
