TPS3824: Inquiry on Reset and WDI Pin Configuration

Part Number: TPS3824

Tool/software:

Hi Team,

My customer is asking for assistance to confirm when some pins of the TPS3824-33DBVR reset IC are not used.

Specifically, we need to ensure that the unused pins do not cause any malfunction.

In the following circuit, there is no requirement for the WDI and RST (RESET) pins.

We will design theWDI pin with a 1K ohm resistor to ground, and leave the RST pin floating to ensure the IC operates in its optimal state.

Can you confirm that there is no issues with this configuration?

Thanks!

BR,

Alfred

  • Hi Alfred,

I would like to let you know we do have supervisor that has no watchdog feature in it. Please check TLV803, it's a single channel supervisor that has only 3 pin. This could be better in your application.

According to datasheet, you can leave WDI pin open. When WDI pin is left floating, the device generates pulses internally to prevent watchdog reset event. WDI must be driven low or high for watchdog error to assert output. And driven it low or high will cause the watchdog error to assert output. So, If your customer wants to disable, they should leave it open.

And RESET pin can be left open if it's not being used.

    Hope this helps!

    Best,

    Sila
