TPS25751: Additional Design Collateral / SBU vs CC Pins

Part Number: TPS25751

Tool/software:

Hi,

My customer had a similar question to the previous thread.

1) Is there an app note, schematic, or similar piece of documentation that includes the circuits mentioned in figure 9-8 and 9-9?

2) Could you elaborate about the use of the SBU pins vs CC pins?

Thank you!

  • Hi Abigail,

    1. We are creating application note to further elaborate and describe how the circuit is set up and how it works in conjunction with the firmware. Please reach out internally for timeline details.

    2. The CCx pins are used by TPS25751 (and all other PD controllers) for communication between two PD controller. This is fundamental for PD to negotiate power contract, request power/data role swap, and any other PD protocol messaging that happens when two PD capable devices are connected. TPS25751 liquid detection solution utilizes the SBU pin since this PD device does not support Alternate mode (i.e DisplayPort) that requires to use the SBUx pins. SBUx pins are used as the liquid detection measurement pins.

Let us know if there's any further questions or concerns!

    Thanks and Regards,

    Raymond Lin
