BQ78350-R1A: GPIO Output Function Config?

Hi PM Forum!

I hope you all are doing great!

Our team is in the early stages of planning and designing a BMS. We expect to use an AFE BQ76920 or BQ76930 in conjunction with a BQ78350-R1A.

One of the important features we are looking for is to display alerts from the AFE (OV, UV, OCD, OCC, SCD). We know that the 5 LEDs present on the BQ78350 display the RelativeStateOfCharge(), which leaves us only with the GPIOs to work as alert pins. However, after checking the "Technical Reference (SLUUBD3E)", we could not find where and how the GPIOs are triggered in the bqSudio (output function or condition config).

As I mentioned before, we are in the stage of planning; therefore, we do not have the device connected to the bqStudio. Would that also be the reason why those features do not appear in the following section? (currently using "1E9B_1_04-bq78350_R1.bqz" as reference).

Thanks in advance for the help!
Daniel.

  • Hello Daniel,

This question has been assigned to a battery gauge expert.

    Thank you,

  • bqStudio gives access to configuration parameters, like GPIO->GPIO Config->GPIO Configuration, as you show in your screenshot. I just checked this with bqStudio and it will bring this up. I assume that you took this screenshot from your bqStudio installation.

The actual values will not be displayed until you connect a TI EVM (or patch in SCL/SDA on your board with the bq78350) with EV2x00.
