TPS2814: Alternative for TPS2814DR

Part Number: TPS2814
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: UCC27423, UCC27424, UCC27444, UCC27425

Tool/software:

Hello Team,

Customer is looking for alternative for TPS2814DR. I have proposed UCC27424DR but customer thinks that the input and output logic of UCC27423DR and TPS2814DR seem to match. Is UCC27423DR better alternative?

And also, the logic seems to match by changing the pin assignment as follows, but is it correct to use (will it be functional compatible?)?

TPS2814DR in pin → UCC27423DR EN pin
TPS2814DR /in pin → UCC27423DR in pin

Best regards,

  • Hey Keigo,

Thank you for reaching out with our customers questions regarding the TPS2814.

The TPS2814 is an older part and we have newer, higher current parts with wider supply voltage ranges and better switching characteristics that we would recommend here.

As for changing the pin assignment, the pinout and operation of the UCC27423 vs the TPS2814 is much more different than changing these two pin assignments.

The TPS2814 would require 4 control signals due to the non-inverting and inverting pins on each channel.

If the want dual non-inverting inputs, they can use the UCC27424 (or the UCC27444 if they would like a higher VDD range).

If they want dual inverting inputs, they can use the UCC27423.

If they want a single inverting input and a single non-inverting input they can use the UCC27425.

Let me know if you have any questions.

    Thank you,

    William Moore
