Hi Sir,

My customer is using TPS65994BH and need a reset command to exit abnormal dead-battery condition. We send GAID by GUI and it works in test. But when our customer implement that into code, It didn't work correctly.

1. Is there any delay time required for 4CC command / GAID after we send it? Can we read back 0x08 register immediately?

2. What register we can use to confirm GAID cold rerest is completed? Or just read 0x08 register later to see the value is returned to 0?

Hi Gary,

The Delay time for GAID is variable depending upon the system.
Completion of the GAID is marked when the register 0x8, 0x9 is returned to 0.

Can customer read 0x08 immediately after we write GAID into 0x08? Any issue might be occured like pending cold reset event?

Hi Gary,
PD Controller can momentarily NAK I2C transactions while performing GAID. But there will not be any problem if you attempt to read 0x8 register.

Hi Aakash,

In one of my customer's FW, they read 0x08 after writing GAID, and they always can read back GAID in at least 10S.

1. If customer can read GAID in 0x08, it means 994 is still waiting to process cold reset?

2. Do you have sample code about processing 4cc command for my customer's reference?

Hi Gary,

1. No, the 0x8 reg is updated only once the GAID is complete.
2. We do not have a sample code, but the general practice is after writing GAID, wait for 2 sec, then read 0x08 if 0 it means GAID is complete else poll until 0
