TPS56637: Minimum duty cycle for TPS56637

Hi Team,

Could you please provide the minimum input-to-output voltage ratio (Duty cycle) required for proper regulation in the TPS56637?

We are designing a regulator with the following specifications:

Input Voltage (Vin): 6V to 14.5V
Output Voltage (Vout): 5V
Output Current: 2.5A

However, the simulation tool indicates that this configuration does not meet the minimum off-time requirement. Could you help clarify this?

The duty required for bucking 6V to 5V= ~84% with Ton = 1.4us and Toff = 270ns. Toff(min) = 300ns; even though Typical value =200ns due to the max value simulation is throwing the error.

Secondly, if you're input is 6-14.5V, why are you selecting a device with 28V Vin(max). We've devices with 4.5 to 17/18V Vin too. Please do scan the portfolio well.

Hi Gautam,

Thank you for your response. We haven't finalized the maximum input voltage (Vin) yet. For safety reasons, we've currently selected 28V. However, in the next version of our design, we expect the maximum Vin to be around 24V.

Can you please suggest any regulator that works our requirements for the input Vin: 6V to 24V 4A , Vout: 5V also for 6V to 14.5V 4A, Vout: 5V
