TPS4HC120-Q1: Pullup Resistor & Current Capability

Part Number: TPS4HC120-Q1

Tool/software:

Hi team,

My customer is considering using TPS4HC120-Q1, and they have some questions for pullup resistor selection and current capability below:

  1.  Customer would like to use 5.1kohm 5% for pullup resistor for FLT and LPM pin. Is the selection okay and what is the range of pullup resistor value recommended?(Datasheet recommendation is 5kohm as below)
  2. ILnom is specified all channels enabled 2A and one channel enabled 3A @Ta=85℃. Could you provide the calculation or method on how we decide this value? Customer want to know the calculation to estimate the current capability with 2ch enabled, and different Ta condition.

Thank you,

Muwei Zheng

  • Hello Muwei,

    1. There should be no issues utilizing that resistor in your customer application.

    2. This is specified due to the thermal behavior of the device to prevent it from reaching thermal shutdown. I can share the excel used to determine this through email.
