BQ25798: Power Good Status

Part Number: BQ25798

Tool/software:

Can someone please explain how the power good status (bit 3 in REG1B_Charger_Status_0) works in detail, please? And what can cause it to not be set, please?

The latest version of the datasheet does not show it on the block diagram on page 24.

Thanks.

  • Hi BWT,

During power up shortly after input voltage > UVLO, a current sink pulls IPOORSRC from the VBUS pin.  If the voltage drops below VPOORSRC, the converter sets EN_HIZ=1 for 10min then tries again.

    Regards,

    Jeff

  • Hi Jeff,

Many thanks for the response. Is there a way to get it to have another attempt without waiting 10 min, please? E.g, clear the EN_HIZ bit? And are there any downsides to doing so, please?

    Thanks.

  • Hi BWT,

Yes, the host can set EN_HIZ bit to 0 and poor source tries again.  Also, if input drops below UVLO, EN_HIZ auto clears and tries again when new input source is attached.

    Regards,

    Jeff
