BQ25756E: Is connection to TS pin required in software mode?

Hello,

I have a design based on the BQ25756EEVM.

The battery to be charged does not have a thermistor so I left the TS pin on the BQ25756E as a no connect.

All seems to be OK but it is not charging the battery.

Could this be because of the TS pin not being connected to anything?

My uC is reading and writing to the I2C registers ok and the ADC works fine on the input voltage and reads the battery volts ok.

The REGN measures 5V, yet does not charge. 

In software mode (I2C) it seems possible to disable the TS pin, could this allow charging?

Register 0x21 is reading 0xA3

Register 0x22 is reading 0x80
