BQ25720: Hybrid power supply mode of BQ25720

Part Number: BQ25720

Tool/software:

Dear TI Engineer,

We have a notebook that runs burnIn and the device entering hybrid power mode. While the input current is limited to 3.2A, but the adapter is not pulled to 3.2A and can only be around 2.8A at this time, and the battery also a  discharge current at 200-300mA to power supply the system.

So about the hybrid power supply mode of BQ25720, we have the below question:

1) How this mode is triggered and the conditions for releasing it?

2) Which register can be used to view the status of the power supply mode?

Thanks,

Kind Regards

  • HI, Lumina,

    1) We call this supplement mode when the system draws more current than the adapter can supply. The battery will supplement the system load at the same time the adapter reaches the input current limit. When the system load reduces, the battery will exit the supplement mode automatically.

    2) There is a charge status register 0x20, which has a few bit to indicate the charge status.

    Regards,

    Tiger
