BQ77915: Doubts regarding BQ77915

Part Number: BQ77915

Tool/software:

Hi,

I need a battery OV protection IC for standalone MOSFET based charge cut-off at 4.3V. No discharge protection as well as no cell balancing required. I have already used BQ7790518 for an application of OV cut-off at 4.25V. For newer design this should be 4.3V. Can I use BQ779153 for this purpose?  If yes, I want to disable the cell balancing feature from this. As per the datasheet we can disable the cell balancing for single stack. Can we disable the same for two stacked configuration? Please suggest if any better option available.

NOTE : We are not planning for any firmware for this application, so factor set options are preferred.

  • Hi,

Apologies for the delay on getting back to you. I will need more information about the number of cells of your applications, and the protection you need to see if there's a better option available.

Regarding the question, yes you can use the BQ779153 which met your 4.3V and disable cell balancing by leaving the bottom IC floating, and stacking the upper IC with the CBO input.
