TPS92621-Q1: TPS92621-Q1

Part Number: TPS92621-Q1

Tool/software:

HI,

We are using TPS92621-Q1 EVM for evaluation, we observed the output voltage is dropping when we sink above 50mA (Input voltage is 15V). As per device specs it is expected to source upto 300mA.

Please let us know if there is graph of "output current vs output voltage".

  • Hi Kiran,

I'm not sure I understand what you mean by voltage drops when you sink 50mA. The TPS92621-Q1 is a current source, not a current sink. The EVM is also configured for a default output of 250mA.

You will need to provide detailed information about the EVM configuration and load configuration including detailed schematics.

There is no graph of output current vs output voltage because the TPS92621-Q1 is a constant current source, therefore the output voltage is determined by the load.

We do have graphs of output current vs dropout voltage in the TPS92621-Q1 datasheet, as this parameter is internal to the device. You need to ensure you are not operating in low-dropout mode if you expect constant current regulation.

    Zach

  • HI,

I have connected E-load at the output of TPS92621 and tried to sink the current, when we sink above 50mA, the output voltage of TPS92621 is dropping. Is it expected that the output drops when current is sourced from TPS92621 EVM.

    Configuration:

We have given 15V at the input of TPS92621EVM.

We have removed J4, bypassing LEDs on board and connected a E-load to simulate the load condition.

Let me know for more inputs,

  • Hi, any update on above query.

  • Hi Kiran,

The TPS92621-Q1 is a constant current source and the EVM is configured for a constant current of 250mA. If you are connected an SMU and limiting the current sink to 50mA, the device is no longer in linear regulation. The only way to change the current output is to modify the value of the sense resistor.

Try again with a resistive or LED load. The TPS92621-Q1 must be allowed to set the output current, not some other SMU or E-load.

    Regards,

    Zach
