CSD97395Q4M: RE: CSD97395Q4M and CSD95372BQ5MC Application information with Multiphase Controller TPS53659RSBR and TPS53622RSBR

Part Number: CSD97395Q4M
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS53622, CSD95492QVM, CSD95495QVM, , CSD95372BQ5MC

Tool/software:

Dear TI Team,

We have used the CSD95495QVM and CSD95492QVM power stages in our current design alongside the TPS53659RSBR and TPS53622 controllers. However, due to the limited lifecycle (approximately one year remaining) of the CSD95495QVM and CSD95492QVM, we are considering transitioning to the CSD97395Q4M and CSD95372BQ5MC as potential replacements. Before proceeding, we would like to confirm whether these alternate power stages are functionally compatible with the TPS53659RSBR and TPS53622 controllers. Additionally, we request confirmation on whether the footprints and electrical characteristics of the CSD97395Q4M and CSD95372BQ5MC are directly compatible with the existing PCB layout and system design intended for the CSD95495QVM and CSD95492QVM. Your prompt support on this matter is highly appreciated, as it is critical for our design finalization and production planning.

Thanks

Niranjan

  • also can you confirm above CSD97395Q4M and CSD95372BQ5MC as potential replacements are suitable supply for Xeon D 1700 Series processor.

  • Niranjan,

Thank you for the question. Can you help me clarify what specific requirements you're looking into, if the devices have to be pin-to-pin and/or drop-in compatible? If that the case, the power stages that were mentioned and their respective replacements do not share the same footprint, meaning that you will need to redesign for extra and/or lack of pins. Before answering your question, can you let me know if that's okay?

  • Please see my response above, will answer when I get a response back.

  • Hi Walter,

We want replacement but if you suggest any part number which are same footprint-compatible and equivalent functionality same as CSD95495QVM and CSD95492QVM.?

However, if no footprint-compatible replacements are available, we are consider to modifying the PCB. In that case, can you please confirm whether the CSD97395Q4M and CSD95372BQ5MC are suitable functional replacements for the CSD95495QVM and CSD95492QVM, and whether they are compatible with our existing TPS53659RSBR and TPS53622 controllers.?

    Thanks

    Niranjan

  • Niranjan,

Understood. From what I see, it would be possible to replace those power stages with their respective replacements, but you will need to alter the schematic and the PCB. One of the changes that you will have to account for is the presence of a #SKIP pin on the CSD97395Q4M. On the CSD95495QVM, the skip function from the controller is tied to the EN/FCCM pin on the power stage, just one example. These changes and more can be seen in their respective data sheets.

Let me know how else I can help.

    Walter
