Using integrated-inductor buck converters in inverting buck-boost configuration

Hello team,

Can we use any of our integrated-inductor buck converters (TPS84620, for example) in inverting buck-boost configuration? I am referring to the slva257a app note which shows that we basically need to interchange the diode and inductor position of a buck topology to use it in inverting buck-boost configuration. But that won't be possible on the TPS84620. Are there any other integrated-inductor devices we can use?

Look at application note AN-2027 for details on using modules in an inverting topology.

Hi Mohammed,

Yes, you definitely can use our integrated-inductor buck converters in an inverting buck-boost configuration. The application note AN-2027 Marc is referring to is for configuring the LMZ power modules in an inverting topology. This configuration can be applied to the entire LMZ1420x, LMZ2360x, and LMZ1200x modules so long as the input voltage and output current limits are observed.
