TPS61288: VOUT protection from reverse current

Part Number: TPS61288

Tool/software:

We use DCDC converter "TPS61288LRQQR" for power generator for DC motor, and following conditions,

- The DC motor drive voltage of DC 18V is generated from DC 12V using the TPS61288LRQQR.
- A P-ch FET is used to control the ON/OFF of the motor supply voltage.
- Since a reverse current of up to approximately 2A is periodically generated from the DC motor,
a Schottky diode will be added to protect the P-ch FET.

In this configuration, a reverse current also flows back to the output side of the TPS61288LRQQR,
but the VOUT voltage stays below DC 19V.

According to the TPS61288LRQQR specifications:
- Overvoltage protection : over 19V
- Absolute maximum VOUT : 20V

Based on this, we assume that the TPS61288LRQQR will not be damaged under these conditions.
Is this understanding correct?

Regards.
