LP2996-N: About Inrush current

Part Number: LP2996-N

Tool/software:

Hi, E2E

We use LP2996MX/NOPB for long time in DDR-I system, now we re-evaluate around DDR-I circuit.

We noticed in this evaluation, inrush current is very low, about 400mA, but in other our products inrush current is over 2A.

*In other products use other vendor DDR terminator.

In each products have 20uF capacitors connected to VTT as same.

LP2996MX/NOPB have soft-start function?  and are there any functions other than soft start that can suppress inrush current?

Best Regards

  • Hi Shoichi-san,

There's a section from the datasheet shown below that might answer your question. Click the image to make it larger. Let me know if that helps.

If you can control the VDDQ input slew rate and make is slower with an RC filter as an example, I believe the inrush current to the device will also be reduced.
